I do Custom Woodworking from as small as Pens and Jewelry Boxes to as large as Convention Room tables, Libraries, Kitchen Cabinets . I'm a one-man shop who has been a woodworker for over 50+ years. I am also a Retired U.S. Merchant Marine in which I was able to hand carry exotic Hard Woods form faraway lands. I use prime material for my projects, so with that said I also use reclaimed and naturally resourced wood when possible. I mill my own lumber/slabs then use same wood in my projects!
In general every piece is designed by having a good idea of what I want to create. Then I select the species of wood and from that the intensity of the color and the figue of the grain. I refine the design then start the fun part turnig wood into something precious and beautiful. On my hand made furniture and display Bowls I use an oil based satin fijnish that I rub out by hand, for food srvice Bowls I use a food safe product like Walnut oil.
My standard craftsmanship guarantee for wood crafted is life time for the original owner. As expected, this lifetime guarantee excludes abnormal abuse, neglect, mistreatment, and any other conditions/situations that fall outside of normal usage. This also to include any and all hardware items which fall under original manufacturers warranties, my warranty is as such: the owner is responsible for payment of parts, Chez Marquette will not charge for the labor involved.
I will do my best to select woods that are similar and have consistent grains. However, variations are natural and can become pronounced with aging and species selection. The natural beauty of wood and its tendencies to mature are not to be considered defects; rather, they are to be considered enhancements to the overall work performed.
Normal exposure to sunlight and UV light will bring about change to wood and therefore, is outside of my warranty.
Additionally, my warranty does not cover natural expansion and contraction resulting in damage caused by low or excessive humidity or extensive exposure to direct sunlight.
Please be patient - Hand Made items take awhile, web sites too!
